What does a dating journal look like after years of dating? I’m here today to show you mine, from start to finish. Like many people, I relied mostly on online dating, which meant I’ve gone on lots and lots of dates—some that I never spoke to again, some that became my best friends, and one that became my fiancé 🙂 My dating journey was a rollercoaster of emotions—sometimes a fun time and sometimes a disaster. Journaling helped me brave the ups and downs of the process—and during, I decided to make a dating journal for other people to use as well. (Here’s why I created the Date Book!)
As you flip through these pages, you’ll see reflections from different moments in my personal dating journey. However, to begin, you’ll see what I did before we created the Date Book—scribbles and charts in a random notebook. (I wish they were a bit nicer…)
Without further ado, here they are!
Before the Date Book

Here’s where it started—my journey with dating journaling. Just a list, some names, how many dates we went on, and what I remember from the date or my impressions. This was the inspiration for the Date Log that’s in the final version of The Date Book. Over time, though, I started to do a bit more reflecting. But my first reflections were just in my everyday journal—not part of a separate dating journal.

Yup, it was a rollercoaster alright. If you’re interested, here are the lessons I learned on my dating journey!
The Idea for the Date Book
Here I am playing around with some different formats and questions for the Date Book.

doesn’t look anything like this.
Some reflection work I found helpful. A similar prompt made it into the final version of the Date Book.
